About Me
I believe in the transformative power of psychotherapy because I have experienced it myself and that is what moved me to become a psychotherapist. I share a deep appreciation for the influence that cultural and social contexts and events have in shaping our personal history I am bilingual (Spanish), and multicultural,.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and psychotherapist in the state of California, with over a decade of direct and diverse clinical experience. After completing my Master’s degree in Social Welfare at the University of Berkeley, I spent three years in a Post Graduate Training Program in psychodynamic psychotherapy at The Psychotherapy Institute (TPI) in Berkeley. Since then, I have trained in many other modalities emphasizing Eye Rapid Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotional Focused Therapy ( EFT); and somatic, and mindfulness based approaches. My passion for learning and curiosity for different modalities, and for eastern philosophies such as Vedanta and Buddhism, the spiritual aspects of Judeo -Christian thought, and the contributions of Jungian psychology, among others, are also integrated in my work.
I work with adults and couples who are ready to change recurring patterns of behavior that no longer serve them. I provide psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, trauma related symptoms, and PTSD. Life transitions, empty nesting, difficulties with interpersonal relationships, self-regulation of emotions. Life milestones, significant losses and grief; adjusting to the challenges of age and aging, This is only a general list. Please contact me if you have any questions about the possibility of working together.
About my Logo
My logo is inspired by the symbology and meanings of the archetypal figures of beloved Goddess Sarawasti, the lotus, and a lovely tree representing a tree to remind us, that although we are individuals, we form part of a family system whose collective unconscious has an impact in our lives regardless of our awareness of it.
Goddess Sarawasti is represented by the beautiful swan that usually accompanies her in her many depictions. At a deeper level, the swan symbolizes our true self, love for learning, self-knowledge, and the power of discernment. Sarawasti embodies those attributes and they emanate from her with the inner growth, self-knowledge, and discernment that she cultivates and that we are invited to cultivate within us.
In my logo the swan is sitting in a lotus, just like Sarawasti seats in a giant white lotus. The lotus represents the purity and beauty that emerges from having overcome the murky waters. Like Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh used to say: No mud, No lotus!. What a beautiful analogy to the obstacles, darkness, and pain represented by the murky waters we face in our lives. We are reminded that these muddy waters can be transcended like the lotus flower does each time she blooms.
I hope that my logo, created with the intention to embrace and represent these archetypal and universal teachings may resonate with you and inspire you during our work together, and along your journey.
